Hi John,

Thank you for spending the time and energy to make this website. I stumbled upon this site on a google search about the tsunami/Khao Lak. I live in Virginia, and we lost a dear 29 year old friend at the Theptharo Lagoon Beach Resort, right next to the resort where you stayed. Wiebke had lived with our family for a year as a foreign exchange student in the early 90's, and we had grown very close to this beautiful, sweet, "adopted" fourth daughter. Wiebke loved Thailand and this was her 4th visit. The disaster still looms over our family, and from time to time I still visit websites that review the tsunami in Khao Lak, or the rebuilding of the region/resorts, etc. Your story is amazing, and I listened to the radio production. Somehow knowing that you were there, just several miles from our friend, helps in some odd way.

I wish that Wiebke had survived, but, I am glad that you did. Live your life to the fullest. We all should be thankful for each and every precious minute we have.

With warm regards,

Jan Wunnenberg
